AIG Travel Guard: Suggested Travel Insurance

After loosing my entire luggage in August, 2006, when traveling to England, this year I decided to take out Travel Guard Insurance. There were several reasons for this:
This year Len is coming with me and he has several health problems. I was worried that he may need more heart surgery, after having stents in March, so I wanted trip cancellation coverage. This way if he had a heart attack prior to the date we would be able to get the majority of our money back.
Even though I am still British, last year I had to pay to see a doctor, pay for a script to be written, and also pay for the prescription. This is because I went the day after red/critical alert with only a Ziploc bag and 1 day of prescriptions drugs. Actually I took 3 days but wish I had just taken the whole bottle with me.
My luggage was lost and I had to wait until December to receive payment from British Airways. With this policy I would get $100 for baggage delay, which would help with immediate purchases.
Our flights to England were nearly $2,000 and for just $79.90 both Len and I are covered for the full 19 days. I have the confirmation letter and also identification cards and labels for the baggage.
Here are the details of the policy:
Accident and sickness medical expenses $5,000 per insured.
Travel assist.
Baggage & travel documents $500 per insured.
Baggage delay $100 per insured.
Emergency medical transportation $20,000.00 per insured.
Travel delay $300 per insured.
Trip cancellation $800 per insured.
Trip interruption $800 per insured.
They are not really big amounts but I really feel more comfortable knowing that I have them in place.
I found out about this insurance by going to www.travelguard.com and then asking for a quote. AIG is a reputable company and I know that they will honor this policy. They can be contacted at 1-800-454-7107, which is the customer service center. If we have a problem when we are out of the country we also have 01-716-345-0505. We will have to find the code for America and then dial the number.
So this year it will be a better trip knowing that I have covered all possibilities.
