Common sense is an ephemeral concept. What is it? Who has it? And who's to say your's is better than mine, or vice versa? Well, I'm gonna answer those questions, right here, right now.Common sense is defined as "good judgment: sound practical judgment derived from experience rather than study" (Encarta) For our purposes here I am talking about good judgment, regardless of one's method of acquisition.
To determine if something is of good judgment one must consider repercussions and make a cost/benefit analysis. Also needed to make a good judgment is the relevant history of the subject. Have others been faced with similar circumstances? What did they do?
When it comes to immigration I have but to ask myself one question to reach what I consider to be good judgment a/k/a common sense. My question is "What do other nations do?" Do they all have open borders? Is their territory sovereign? Do they have supreme authority to dictate the laws of their sovereign territory? Or, as the open borders advocates would argue, is the territory a nation calls its own really belong to all the world's citizens?
Of course my question was rhetorical. Try walking across the Russian border without the proper authorization to do so. Swing by North Korea and give a shout out to Kim Jong il. I'm sure he'll be glad to see ya. Even closer, swing on down to Havana for a nice vacation.
Now for the common sense part - What the Hell is wrong with you people? I have the right, by law, to determine who may and may not occupy my property. The United States has that same right. So does Russia, China, Cuba, the UK, India ....
As my premise is undeniable, and is supported by local, state, national and international law, again I ask, What the Hell is wrong with you people?
