Halo 2 is the sequel to the highly popular mega-hit, Halo: Combat Evolved. It follows along with the story, which is about a lone soldier who is known as Master Chief. The game begins where Halo: Combat Evolved left off, as Master Chief fights to save Earth and the humanity from a race of alien invaders called the Covenant. Since it's release on November 9th, 2005, it was the most played game over X box Live (as of May 9th, 2007 there had been 5 billion games played and over 5 million unique users) until the X box 360 hit Gears of War was released, throwing Halo 2 from it's reigning crown. And even though Halo 2 may not be the champion of on line gaming, most people still consider it to be the best game on the X box console. And who can argue? It even beat out Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest as the highest grossing entertainment sales of all time, with over $125 million dollars in sales in the first 24 hours of release.
What about game play?
Halo 2 is very rich in game play, offering two modes of play: A single player or co-op story mode called Campaign, or a multi-player mode via split screen, LAN (Local Area Network), or via the Internet using Microsoft's on line gaming community named X box Live. The Campaign mode of Halo 2 is rich with excitement, as you progress through the story playing as both Master Chief and the Arbiter. Taking the battle to multi-player provides the game with infinite playability, as you can play either with people on the same X box, on a network, or across the Internet. Bungie paid extra attention to the on line multi-player portion of the game, making it one of the most fulfilling and robust on line communities ever. With a friends list with 100 spots, and a clan creation that makes most games jealous, all the way down to Bungie's Matchmaking play lists, there's never a dull moment with Halo 2.
