In the midst of devastation,
a figure in the mist
stands away
and takes it all in.
Silent tears fall
like gentle rain
on a ground
shaken to its knees,
bringing the world with it.
Gasps of sadness
escape the lips of the ghost
that still stands there,
watching those
walk by
as they carry
the weight of the world
upon their shoulders
and a candle of hope
in their hearts.
With a sudden gust of wind,
the figure sways
as eyes fall on those
that have come to help
to bring back
what was taken away.
A smile spreads
against the pale face,
and nothing
now remains
but footprints.
