In 1998, Paramount Pictures released a film called the "The Truman Show." Set in the fictional town of Seahaven, this town was imaginary not only to viewers of the movie, " The Truman Show"---but also to the main character, Truman Burbank (portrayed by Jim Carrey). The film depicts a man whose entire existence has been the focus of a reality show; the streets, buildings, neighbors, and even friends are all parts an enormous set constructed to fool Truman into believing that his world is real. Developers of the reality show, "The Truman Show" erected a set reminiscent of the 1950's with barely a blade of grass out of place. Almost 10 years later, in downtown Atlanta, there appears to have been erected another version of "The Truman Show"---only this time the neighborhood is called Atlantic Station.

All About Atlantic Station

Like many areas of metro Atlanta, the section of town between 17th and 19th streets (which formerly housed the Atlantic Steel Mill), has undergone a serious transformation. In 2005, developers decided to create an entire [upscale] community in this area. The section has been divided into three distinct parts, The Commons, The District, and The Village. Encompassing all the conveniences that a human being could think of, Atlantic Station has become one of the new hubs of metro Atlanta's buzzing infrastructure. But Atlantic Station has not always been a welcomed addition. In a city that supposedly thrives on diversity, the construction of such a lavish collection of establishments has some metro residents wondering if city officials have done too much to dictate the way the their citizens live, work, and play...
