Have you wondered what citizen journalism is all about? I thought I knew. But, there is way much more going on these days in the world of citizen journalism.

Associated Content: The People's Media Company has recently earned itself a prime place in the new wave of citizen journalism. It was chosen by AlwaysOn as one of the top 100 private companies. Citizen journalism is now changing the way the news is being reported.

Where once the public heard about the one person hero/heroine changing the world, it now is a world being changed through the global community of the new internet metropolis. Lev Grossman of TIME in Partnership with CNN writes:

"But look at 2006 through a different lens and you'll see another story, one that isn't about conflict or great men. It's a story about community and collaboration on a scale never seen before. It's about the cosmic compendium of knowledge Wikipedia and the million-channel people's network YouTube and the online metropolis MySpace. It's about the many wresting power from the few and helping one another for nothing and how that will not only change the world, but also change the way the world changes."

And, that is exactly what has been happening through the voices of the once silent news consumers. The everyday, ordinary individual can now acru a following of millions via the internet.

The world of instant communications provides citizen journalists an opportunity to play more than a supporting role in the news. They now can instantly make the news with video clips uploaded from their cell phone/internet connection on sites such as MySpace, UTube, Associated Content, and many other sites too numerous to list. If you're interested enough to want to check out some highly rated citizen journalist sites, use the link provided on the linked words.
