How to Throw a Dress Exchange Party

From time to time we girls need new dresses. Rather it is for a high school dance, a military ball or any other type of formal there will come a time in your life where you need to find yourself a new gown. Sure you can wear that same ole dress you wore for your last two functions, but believe me people will start to notice. Can't find what you want on sale? Don't feel comfortable buying one off EBay? Then the only solution to your problem is to throw a dress exchange party. Never heard of a dress exchange party? Don't worry there fun to throw and I'm going to tell you how.

First off a dress exchange party is exactly what it sounds like. It's a party where you exchange dresses. If done right this party can be a lot of fun. If done poorly, at the very least you're going to have a new dress.

For starters you're going to need to find people to attend you're party. This shouldn't be hard at all. You will also need to find a location large enough to hold everyone that you invite. It could be your house or a school gymnasium depending on the amount of people that are invited. Tell everyone that you invite to bring a dress that is clean and in like new condition. After all there is no point in swapping one of your good dresses for one of your friend's crappy ones. Also depending on the location of your party you could have everyone bring their favorite dish and turn your party into a potluck.

Once everyone has arrived it is a good idea to explain the rules of the party. There aren't really any rules except once a dress is chosen it is "off the market" meaning that the dresses can't be stolen like they do in Yankee Swap. You'll need to decide how to display the dresses that everyone brings. You may choose to hang them up for everyone to see, or you may have each person hold up their dress and give a little information about it, for example who it is made by, size, material etcetera.
