The Absolute Beginner's Guide to Fishing

Man has been fishing since the first cave man wandered to the edge of a river and thought "I wonder what the heck is in there." Fortunately for modern man the process of catching fish has already been mastered and is very simple.

To begin you need very simple equipment that costs very little. All that you need is a rod and reel and some simple accessories. A trip to WalMart or a similar large retailer will present you with an abundant selection of choices that can quickly leave you confused. Forget all the choices and simply look for a Zebco Model 33. While there are variations of the Model 33, don't be concerned with this. They are all simple and basic and will get the job done. Model 33's generally come in a 'combo' which means the rod and reel are generally sealed in a plastic container. The combo's will come 'pre-spooled'. This simply means that the reel already contains an appropriate line in them. Please note that many combos will come with hooks and bobbers (and perhaps some lures).
