I like to write on a daily basis, whether it is for AC, in my personal diary or via e-mail. In this article, I will discuss my writing goals for the next 7 days and what I hope to achieve over time.

1. Increase My Weekly Writing Average

My weekly writing average is a goal I wish to work on and improve over time so that over any given week, I am writing 50 articles ready for review and publication. In order to reach that goal, I am taking baby steps, gradually increasing the pace until I reach that goal.

2. Proofread! Proofread! Proofread!

One of the things I am working hard on improving on a daily basis is my ability to edit and proofread my work before I submit it. I used to view it as a very time consuming and wasteful thing to do. But I have learned the value of going over my work and looking more closely at it prior to submission. That's not to say that everything I write is flawless. I just place it under closer scrutiny than previously.

3. Social Book marking Sites

I did not pay a great deal of attention to social book marking sites when I first started working as a freelance writer. But I have since come to see the value of social book marking sites such as Netscape, Digg and others. My goal is to continue to submit my newly published articles to social book making sites, not a week or month after publication, but preferably on the day of publication. This in turn helps to increase my page views and performance bonus each month.

4. Learn from Other Writers

A good writer is a writer who is not too proud to accept guidance and advice from others. I am aware of the vast amount of knowledge circulating on AC and the great job that CP's do to help make it a great site to write for. But rather than just reading articles and thinking of how it applies to other people, I am reading more and more articles and applying what I am learning to my own life. My goal is to continue to learn from others and to take advice from "experts" in certain fields.

5. E-mail Alerts

Takeaways
  • I plan on increasing my weekly writing average
  • I want to improve my editing skills
  • Social book marking sites help to increase page views; I aim to book mark articles each day

I enjoy learning from other writers and taking their advice on board

It is excellent to set goals. It is easy to get off task if you don't. Thanks for the motivation.

Great goals, Sophie! I don't subscribe to anyone, but add as a favorite and then read everyone's new things 2-3 times a week. I was getting bogged down with email by subscribing! Good luck with your goals!!

I wish you all the best in reaching these goals. I can relate with number 2 a lot...no matter how much I proofread...even after I upload, somehow something skips my eye that I only notice after being published. I just have to be more careful each time. Thanks for sharing!

You are obviously a good teacher and I love the comments you leave on my articles which are very much appreciated. Really hope you reach your goals!
