Product Review: Sigg Water Bottle

What's up with those wildly colorful metal bottles that urbanites have started toting around town? They're the hottest craze in eco-friendly consumerism, that's what. The Sigg is a re-usable aluminum water bottle that's been available for more than 100 years, but is just now seeing its 15 minutes of fame. Is carrying a Sigg a trendy fashion statement, or a true environmental, save-the-planet move? Here are the Top 5 reasons to tote a Sigg:

5. Express yourself with color, designs, size, shape, and bottle tops. Sigg currently offers more than 3,000 bottle variations, with new versions coming out weekly. I say, if you're drawn to one, snap it up before it's gone. In Portland, OR, the classic 1 liter Red Traveler can be seen everywhere. Yogis are trending toward the Maharadsha Ruby model. My personal fave is the .6 liter Sunray with a no-spill drink lid.

4. All the cool kids are doing it. Featured in Time and Newsweek, as well as scores of lifestyle magazines, Sigg has been spotted in the hands of Madonna's kids Lourdes and Rocco, as well as Cindy Crawford and David Beckham. Certainly, if you carry a Sigg, you'll look as cool as they do, and someone will begin to pay you huge amounts of money simply for looking cool.

3. Dodge that nasty rumor about getting cancer or some other horrible disease from plastic bottles sitting in the sun. Whether the rumors turn out to be an urban legend or they possibly have a grain of truth, aluminum has proven to be a safe beverage container in all climates.
