Owen Wilson has graced the screen with his off-beat approach and surfer-good looks, no matter the movie role, his charm shines through. He often gets paired up as half of a comedic team, but his true talents are fully utilized in more of an ensemble cast.

What Owen Wilson needs is a starring role, no buddy nearby, no Will or Farrell or Ben Stiller. His agent needs to land him the lead in a romantic comedy. Until then, here are the top 10 Owen Wilson movie roles.

Note:Everyone has their favorite Owen Wilson movies, including me. This is my own personal list, and yours will most likely differ.

10. Ken Hutchinson in Starsky and Hutch

I'll give a nod to this movie, because it's retro and how wrong can you go with Owen Wilson in cheap-looking '70s throwback ensembles?

9. As Roy O'Bannon in Shanghai Noon

As much as I love Jackie Chan, Owen Wilson almost made this movie watchable.

8. As John Beckwith in The Wedding Crashers

Another highly touted vehicle, Owen Wilson had a lot of screen time, but it was not one of his best roles. Blame the writing.

7. As Dupree in Dupree

This role will place higher with a lot of folks, but hey, I guess I like the more "classic" roles.

6. Special Agent Alex Scott in I Spy

Even though he was without his Siamese Twin sidekick Ben Stiller, he and Eddie Murphy made for an entertaining comedic team.

5. As Hansel in Zoolander

His Hansel, and the entire movie are both so over the top that this movie role needs to place in the middle of the list. It's not the best, not the worst, and certainly not everyone's cup of Owen.

4. As Ned Plimpton in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

You probably haven't seen this movie which also stars Bill Murray and Anjelica Huston, also in The Royal Tannenbaums. Yes, there is a Wes Anderson theme in this list. He seems to have a knack for directing and focusing actors like Owen Wilson.

3. As Kevin Rawley in Meet the Parents

Because who wouldn't want to marry this guy? Okay, maybe he is a bit too sensitive....

2. As Jedediah in Night at the Museum

Maybe because he's funny, or he's just so cute as a little tiny cowboy, this is one of the top, albeit small (in more ways than one) of his movie roles.

I liked The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. Not knock-down, drag-out funny, but over-the-top and frequently amusing.

I don't know what my ideal would be but he's just so darn cute and funny. Fun article!

I've never been a big fan of Owen's but then I don't particularly like his brand of comedy. Still, I agree that he is talented and I hate his recent brush with mortality.

Totally forgot that he was in Meet the Parents. Hey, what about "Behind Enemy Lines" ?

I agree, needs to do a romantic comedy. He and Kate would have been cute together in a movie like that, but they were already in Dupree together and their relationship was a little too highly publicized. He has a quiet, sort of quirky sense of humor and I love his work, but I sometimes wonder why Luke doesn't get as much attention?

I love he and Jackie Chan as a team - more of them together would not disappoint me.

Great list, I did see Life Aquatic, he was pretty dry in that, but so was everybody else. I agree with you on the Museum movie, he made an adorable tiny cowboy, who doesn't like to be man-handled.

I think a lot of people would agree with you. Thanks for chiming in :-)

I'd have to put John Beckwith from Wedding Crashers as #1, but it's a good list nonetheless. Thanks for sharing.
