Anger is a normal human emotion however if not under control it can cause a lot of problems in all areas of your life. I once knew of a man who had an issue with his anger. He would frequently yell and scream when he didn't like what someone would say. At times he felt so enraged that he would beat the people he did love. He wasn't always living with anger. There was a time when he was happy and had a positive responds towards the people around him no matter what type of situation he came across. Over time he choose to be angry. He came to see anger as a way to scare and control people. However the anger developed into a bad habit that just made his life worse. Anyone can end up like him. By putting a leash on your anger you can avoid allowing anger to take over your life. The following are some tips on what you can do to control your anger and calm yourself down.

Recognize your body's signs of anger. Some signs that your feeling anger could be increased body temperature, tense muscles, angry thoughts and a lack of breathing. As soon as you become aware of your body's anger signs remove yourself from the situation that is making you feel angry.

Take deep breaths. Often times when we are feeling angry we hold are breath. Lack of oxygen can lead to headaches, tense muscles and difficulty in thinking productively. So take deep breaths by breathing slowly through your nose and blowing slowly out through your mouth. Do this till your body starts to feel calm.

Divert your attention away from the problem situation. Once you're away from the situation encourage yourself to think of something else. For example, start off by focusing on your deep breathing. Then visualize a relaxing place such as the mountains or the lake. Give yourself some time before dealing with the problem that is making you feel angry. Sometimes the problem can be resolved simply by removing ourselves from the situation that is making us feel angry.

Incorporate in your life relaxing activities. For example, take yoga classes, join a gym, go for walks, listen to relaxing music or watch a movie that will make you laugh. Calm feelings will help you to stay away from a state of anger.
