Put a Leash on Your Anger
Recognize your body's signs of anger. Some signs that your feeling anger could be increased body temperature, tense muscles, angry thoughts and a lack of breathing. As soon as you become aware of your body's anger signs remove yourself from the situation that is making you feel angry.
Take deep breaths. Often times when we are feeling angry we hold are breath. Lack of oxygen can lead to headaches, tense muscles and difficulty in thinking productively. So take deep breaths by breathing slowly through your nose and blowing slowly out through your mouth. Do this till your body starts to feel calm.
Divert your attention away from the problem situation. Once you're away from the situation encourage yourself to think of something else. For example, start off by focusing on your deep breathing. Then visualize a relaxing place such as the mountains or the lake. Give yourself some time before dealing with the problem that is making you feel angry. Sometimes the problem can be resolved simply by removing ourselves from the situation that is making us feel angry.
Incorporate in your life relaxing activities. For example, take yoga classes, join a gym, go for walks, listen to relaxing music or watch a movie that will make you laugh. Calm feelings will help you to stay away from a state of anger.
