Crittertrail Cages and Accessories

Is Crittertrail Worth the Money?

Crittertrail is one of a few well-known brands of small animal cages and accessories especially designed for hamsters, gerbils, and mice. Crittertrail offers a colorful line of small animal cages and accessories that make observing hamsters, gerbils, and mice a whole lot of
fun. Crittertrail provides various sizes of small animal cages and a series of connecting clear colored tubes, exercise wheels, and much more. The following information on Crittertrail products for small animals such as hamsters, gerbils, and mice, will help you decide if Crittertrail is the cage and accessory brand you want to invest in. You can view all of the Crittertrail cages and accessories at   Pets International, Ltd.

Crittertrail One

Crittertrail One is a nice starter cage for hamsters, gerbils, and mice. Crittertrail One comes with an interior exercise wheel, water bottle, dish, and a loft area. The loft area is called a “petting zone.” The petting zone has a lid that can be opened so you can interact with your small pets.

I bought Crittertrail One for my hamster, and it’s the perfect size for one or two small animals. I have since added a few of the optional accessories to give my hamster more room to climb and play. I added the optional outhouse, the snap-on wheel, and the loop-d-loop. These Crittertrail accessories were a part of an expansion pack, and buying them as a set saved a considerable amount of money.

Crittertrail Two

Crittertrail Two is larger than Crittertrail One, and Crittertrail Two can comfortably accommodate a family of hamsters, gerbils, or mice. Crittertrail Two has two roomy platforms. One platform provides access to the water bottle, and the other provides extra space. A ground level funnel connects to a petting zone. This small animal cage also has a removable plastic exercise wheel. This cage can be easily connected to the other cages in the Crittertrail line of small animal cages.

These cages are a hit-or-miss for some. I never really had problems with them. I like the habitrail line as well. I still go with a regular tank now-a-days. Rodents are great escape artists and love chewing.

I love the critter trail line. Although, these cages are not the best for gerbils...they are great for hamsters! Good article.

We just bought the critter trail dazzle. Great concept, but within 2 days our hamster died...suddenly...I am wondering if the paint has lead in it...he did chew on the bars and paint did chip. I emailed the company, but no response yet.

We bought 2 CritterTrail Pink's for our 2 Dwarf hamsters. PIECE OF JUNK!!! I highly DO NOT recommend CritterTrails. We also have had the CritterTrail 3. These cages are a pain to clean. The wire sides attach via plastic end panels and when you take the lid off to clean, it is very easy for the cages to fall apart! I have tried to contact the company, but have not yet had any success! After purchasing our Critter 3, I complained to PetSmart and they took it back for an exchange. Ignorant me, that is how we ended up with the two Critter 1's. My suggestion, go with the original........"Habitrail"! As soon as I can, that's what we're going to do! Be Blessed!

Critter Trail 2 - our hamster pushed out the plug in the roof and escaped. We found him in the kitchen and lured him back with baked sweet potato and banana. What next?

When it involves buying a cage with the running wheels on top...purchase a gerbil. Gerbils are cleaner and produce a lot less urine than hamsters.

I have a "sam" here and there 5 level cage. They seem to be safe. However I've had to jury rig the removable carrying case on top with a bull clip because the cage door do not close well. The other two doors on the cage DO close well and are secure. The levels clip solidly in and are safe for little ones. I do have to say that I remember 10 - 20 years ago how safe the cages used to be and how generous sized the tunnels were. I was very unhappy at the small size of the toobs and how overly fancy the cages have become. I want to be able to access my hamster without hassle and be able the clean them out just as easy. The crittertrail did seem better built but the Sam 5 level has more room for your pet to move around it. My short haired syrian is fine in the Sam. My teddy bear however was a little tight in the toobs but fine in the rest of the cage! Hope this helps.

I tried to contact the company, but guess what? I couldn't find a contact number or address. It was made in China. What a surprise. Spare yourself the heart-ache, and don't buy this cage or accessories. Thanks for the comments.
