In a National Democratic committee press release from Tuesday, the Democrats put forth the notion that Mitt Romney is t-toggling his position on national health care. They claim he is deemphasizing the program started during his administration as Governor of Massachusetts. One of the features of the Massachusetts law that the Dems think Romney is flip-flopping on is the requirement for all citizens to obtain health insurance.

According to the National Democratic committee press release, Romney spoke on August 28th at the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and promised he would fight for health insurance for all citizens. The Dems say, however, that he expresses a more reserved view for more conservative audiences.

National Democratic Committee spokes person Damian Le Vera stated in the press release: "While Romney is busy running away from his own health care record, and rehashing President Bush's failed agenda, the American people are looking for a real leader who is willing to tackle the tough issues facing this country."

According to the press release, the Democrats think that Romney is distancing himself from the Massachusetts plan, and taking on Bush's already lost cause because Romney is afraid the Mass plan is too liberal for a general Republican vote in a Republican primary race. The press release also indicated that Romney's compromising with Democrats in a "free market" plan in Massachusetts might make Republicans wonder about his possibly being too amiable with a Democrat controlled Congress in his administration if he were to become president.
