Sometimes it doesn't seem to matter where you look, you start to find words that sound familiar form somewhere else but you can't always place where you heard it before. This happens abundantly in Pop Culture, band names have a high tendency to be taken from some random name or statement in history, this goes for many other aspects in the entertainment business also.

Listed below are some Mythical Creature names that have been used in pop culture and I am even including some info on the actual origin of the name as well is how it is being used in pop culture.

Aziza-

Pop Culture: Aziza is the stage name of the female lead singer of a band, Dendura, out of Grand Rapids, MI who was just signed to KillZone Records.

Mythology: Aziza are small nature spirits in the folklore of the West African Dahomey peoples.

Behemoth-

Pop Culture: Behemoth is the name of a black metal band from Poland.

Mythology: Behemoth is a monstrous creature said to be the male mate of Leviathan.

Chimaira-

Pop Culture: Chimaira is a Thrash Metal band from Cleveland, Ohio.

Mythology: Also spelled, Chimera, it was a creature with the body of a goat, head of a lion and the back of a serpent.

Dagon-

Pop Culture: Dagon can be found in the Bible, but more popularly in author H.P. Lovecraft's mythological tales.

Mythology: Dagon is mainly known as a Phoenician and Philistine Fish God.

Dobie-

Pop Culture: Dobie is a the melancholy house elf from the J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series.

Mythology: The Dobie is a British house fairy.

Draco-

Pop Culture: Draco was the name of the Dragon in the movie Dragonheart (given to him for the constellation of stars that are in the form of a dragon). More recently it is the name of young Harry Potter's nemesis in the J.K. Rowling stories, Draco Malfoy.

Mythology: Draco is a winged serpent found in Gracco-Roman myths.

Faun-

Pop Culture: The Faun was most notably popularized by the C.S. Lewis Chronicles of Narnia stories and has been recently used in the movie Pan's Labyrinth.

Mythology: The Faun is a hybrid creature from Gracco-Roman mythology that is as a man above the waist and a goat below, having small horns on his head also.
