The state of Tennessee has a rich history. Tennessee is one the states linking the North to the South. Historically, pioneers crossed the mountains in Tennessee to settle into the wilderness, bringing with them the spirit of independence and daring that has become a part of Tennessee's great history. Nashville, the capital city, is known nationally as the center for country music. Tennessee's largest city, Memphis, is the birthplace of urban blues. Tennessee's rich history includes being the birthplace for some famous, even legendary, people. Here is an entertaining list of celebrities who have called Tennessee their home.

Anna Mae Bullock, later in life to be known as Tina Turner, was born on November 26, 1939 in Nutbush, Tennessee. Tina Turner has earned the title "Queen of Rock & Roll" with her eight Grammy Awards, energetic stage presence, and powerful vocals. She is also known for her long, shapely legs. Tina Turner is the most successful female rock artist of all time; her record sales are in excess of $180 million dollars. Some of Tina Turner's most famous songs include: "What's Love Got To Do With It", "Private Dancer", "We Don't Need Another Hero", and "When the Heartache is Over". In 2001, officials named Tennessee State Highway 19, between Brownsville and Nutbush, the "Tina Turner Highway" in honor of the legend.

Singer, songwriter, actress, author, and philanthropist, Dolly Parton, was born in Sevierville, Tennessee on January 19, 1946. Dolly was the fourth of twelve children. In regards to her early life, Parton has said that her family was "dirt poor". Her parents and the twelve children resided together in a dilapidated one-room cabin in Locust Ridge, Tennessee. In addition to Parton's successful music and film career, she is known for her large bust, tight-fitting costumes, and blonde wigs. Additionally, Parton is also known for having a sense of humor about herself. She has been quoted as saying, "It takes a lot of money to look this cheap."

Yhe TN legislature wanted to pass a resolution honoring Timberlake for his contributions to music, but some folks found his songs to be too vulgar.

Tina's one of my "shero's" and Morgan's a fav actor. Dolly, of course is one beatufiful lady. Her love songs can break your heart.
