When you make a lot of crafts, or buy a lot of books, did you ever think you could make money at it? Doing something you love is a lot of work. Much like having a child, but if you pay your dues and offer quality work, you too, can make money doing something you love. If you collect books, consider selling excess books on amazon.com. They are a widely held authority on book selling. Or if you know of some good used book dealers, educate yourself what your books are worth and go to someone specializing in that field. In fact the single most important decision you can make is to specialize in your own field of expertise. Pick something you love to read, and specialize in it. While you might not make money selling biographies, mystery and modern lit is a field where there is much growth. Make sure to read these genres. So you know what's good and what's mediocre
If you're always making something, consider the craft business, you can get an account on Etsy.com if your designs are good, and you can really make some money in your spare time. Also, cake making if you bake is a good idea, or personal chef, or even catered romantic evenings for two. Just make sure you follow the codes so you don't get in trouble.
Everyone who follows a passion will do whatever it takes to get to a level of performance that will make them money. Remember, no matter how you do business, it is your passion that makes the difference. Some people make several passions work for them, they clean houses, babysit, run errands, an all around person who makes $10,000 here and there. Indeed, there is no one way to do it. But if you market yourself, and be savvy about what people need, you can make some money.
Following a passion makes sense because you have to spend so much time doing it that it should bring you joy. A mother can babysit other children in her home. Or photograph children in her home. In fact, there are web sites that are low cost that you can join to manage your photos, if you look for them. But you need to be a good photographer and know how to sell your services. You need to know how to manage a business, how to edit photos and all of the nuts and bolts of photography to get a good reputation.
