Recently my son came to me and said, "mom, I have a new party idea for you...how about a Wii Party...and you can try it out at my next birthday!". As a party planner, I am always up for a challenge and initially I thought with 26 guests how could I possibly pull this off?

Since the Nintendo Wii is definitely a hit with my three boys, ages 4, 5 and 9, I knew it would make a great party. I was so happy with the end results that I thought I would share this with other parents of "Wii crazed children".

The first thing I realized when planning this party was that my house was not large enough for 26 young boys and girls. So, instead I rented a recreation center which can be done rather inexpensively through your local city parks and recreation department.

I then looked into TV rentals which is definitely the way to go for just one day. Since I happen to have a party business www.treasureboxpartiesandgifts.com, I opted to purchase the Epson Movie Mate (amazing quality for the price!!!) and use televisions from the different bedrooms in our home.

With 26 guests, I came up with a plan for a tournament where the children would play for 15 minutes at 5 different stations. The five stations consisted of 3 Nintendo Wii's, one that we own and the other two were borrowed from my brother and a cousin. The fourth station was a Playstation, borrowed from a cousin and the fifth station was a craft station where the children created their own Mii's.

Every 15 minutes they rotated to the different stations where they played Wii Bowling, Wii Baseball, Wii Mario Kart and Nascar on the Playstation (not Wii but my son happens to loves Nascar!) and the make your own Mii craft station.

At the end of the non-competitive tournament each child received a theme related prize like a mini bowling set for Wii bowling, baseball cards for Wii Baseball, etc. You can make your own Wii party as competitive as your children are geared for, but at this age children have a much better time when everyone feels like a winner.
