The Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars square off in one of the most anticipated match ups of week one in Jacksonville Stadium. This game is exciting in that it showcases two of the most electrifying players from the draft one year ago. Vince Young, the young quarterback for the Titans, and Maurice Jones Drew, the surprising Jaguar running back lit the NFL on fire last season with an awesome showing for their respective teams. The Jaguars sport a feast or famine offense having one of the top running games, and one of the worst passing games in the league. The Titans are a bit more balanced but the talented Young must learn to be more consistent through the air. Both teams are looking to make the playoffs this season. The Titans are certainly on the rise due to the emergence of their number one draft pick Young, and a defense that surprised many. They will be looking to another rookie from last season, Lendale White, to give them a strong rushing presence to compliment Young. A suspect group of receivers needs to step it up and become solid targets for Young's laser passes. The best thing about Young is that he has already shown he knows how to win.
The Jaguars are very strong when they get production from Jones-Drew, but they are nearly unstoppable when Fred Taylor is on the field. Taylor is a top level elite running back that can't seem to stay healthy for an entire season. Fortunately, the emergence of Jones-Drew gives them some backup in this position. The aerial attack is in critical condition however, and this problem may make or break the Jaguars Super Bowl aspirations. The Jaguars do not seem to know whether or not they want Byron Leftwich under center, or David Garrard. Leftwich seems to have been given first shot this season, and needs to show what he can do. The defense in Jacksonville is solid and stout, and should keep them in most games.
