The Brisbane Ekka is a large Carnival or Fair that takes place every year in Brisbane, Queensland located in Australia. This year it ran from August 9th to the 18th at the RNA Showground's, which is located just outside the city of Brisbane. This is the perfect event to take the entire family to. In fact, there is a holiday strictly dedicated to the event, which they call People's Day and is formally known as the Exhibition Public Holiday.

Admission costs vary for the Ekka depending on whether you are an Adult, Child, Student, or Family. The prices range from $12.00 to $22.00 for single's and going up to $56.00 for a four person family. Children under five years of age receive free admission.

Just like most Fair's the Ekka has no shortage of things to see or do. There are tons of rides that you can spend hours on, along with the ever popular regular Carnival games. The rides can be expensive up to $15.00 per ride, but the games are about average with $4.00-$5.00 being the average for a game. There is an interesting Agriculture Centre that is made up of various different displays making fruits and veggies into scenes with butterfly's and houses, and so on. The Showbag Pavilion is a huge centre with every kind of candy you could imagine, and of course a child's wonderland. It is all discounted and you can get various sizes with some larger than you could imagine. There is an Auto Display, Government Centre, Animal Boulevard, and many other sights to see. This means that even if you have small children they will be delighted!

There is no shortage of food or drinks to choose from. It is all dependant on whether you want a meal, snack, or just some good old junk food. There are plenty of hot food stands, and a nice spot to sit down and listen to music while you eat if you so desire. During the hot afternoons you can cool down with a Snow Cone or satisfy that sweet tooth with some Cotton Candy or Fairly Floss as they call it in Australia.
