Why Cancun is the Best Mexican Travel Destination

If you are considering travel to Mexico, I think Cancun is a "not to be missed" destination. Cancun offers so much to see and do and I do not think anywhere else in Mexico can match it. Here I mention just some of what makes Cancun special.

Several decades ago, a search team entered information into a computer describing a new theoretical travel destination, but no location. The computer program was created to select someplace that fit specific characteristics.: great weather, proximity to points of interest and reasonable travel time.

Many people travel to Mexico each year but I l believe Cancun is superior to to other Mexican destinations because it offers sights that other parts of Mexico can't match such as these:

Cancun is less thatn half a day's travel from fascinating archeological sites. Chitchen Itza, Mexico is the site of a well preserved Mayan village. You can climb what locals call "the Mexican pyramids" and stand in the very spot where ancient human sacrifices were performed. Or you can go inside the pyramids to see the sculpture of the jungle cat. (Interesting fact: The cat has jade eyes which historians claim proves that the Mayans traded with the Far East. There was no jade available in Mexico in Mayan times.) You can choose to stroll across the fields where an early form of basketball was played. The hoops are high on the side walls of the arena ...and the losing team was put to death. Knowledgeable guides will lead you through the whole site. I have just touched upon what there is to see there. If you go, consider staying for the
night shows where the pyramids are lit with lasers and dramtic music plays as the ritual sacrifices are
re-enacted.

Also an easy travelling distance from Cancun, Mexico is Xel Ha nature park. It's a nature preserve, water park. But I do not mean the type with rides. Here you can snorkle amongst thousands of colorful fish in a safe, secluded environment. The lower levels of water and natural, insulated cove make it much safer than open ocean snorkelling. Yet you are still in a beautiful, natural coral reef setting..Xel Ha is not man made.
