Interview: Glen Reinsford, Owner of The Religion of Peace, a Site that Charts Acts of Terror

Thereligionofpeace.com

After several months of trying to arrange a time that would good for both of us to sit down and talk I finally received the pleasure of catching Glen Reinsford. He runs the website www.thereligionofpeace.com - a controversial website known for it statistical information and constant

updates on Islamic terrorism stretching across the globe. Also unique to his site is an absence of individual opinion, replaced with news and spreadsheets, with only a handful of links to editorial pieces.

His diligence in pursuing information, while leaving most of the conclusions to the reader, was what inspired me to interview him.

Chadd: Firstly I've spent a great deal of time looking over your website - it's been both applauded as a source of incredible information and a terrible hate site. What draws me to your site over Robert Spencer's jihadwatch.com is the amount of accurate information with as little injected opinion as possible. So then, where do you get all this precise information from?

Glen: I guess the information comes from a variety of sources (by the way, I'm not a great speller in real time, so be kind). Just about everything in the way of news and opinion pieces comes from the Web. Same with the list of attacks, which are found on Internet News sources. Many of the articles that I write are based on my own reading.

Chadd: What kind of fact checking do you do to insure that your pieces aren't simply Islamic hate with made up numbers?

Glen: That's a good question. Surprisingly the most inflated numbers out there are on pro-Islam sites, such as JihadUnspun. I never use their numbers. Over the years, I have learned to identify which sources are reputable and which aren't. I can also recognize when the best time to get final numbers is, which is usually not in the immediate aftermath of an attack. I often go back and correct the figures as they solidify.

Yes you should, I think we would all welcome your Jew and Christian terror counter. Let us know when you can stop counting on one hand. This is exactly the point, the level of violence with Islam as a root cause drwarfs all other motivations for terror. And Islam is okay with this disparity and does not even flintch at the atrocities commited in it's name.

Thank you, HY, for telling me that you've found websites that make the 10,000+ fatal terrorist attacks carried out by Muslims since 9/11 done "with good intentions", that makes me feel a lot better.

I found the material on the website www.thereligionofpeace.com very falsy and un true. I have checked many neutral sources and most of them say that Islam inherits good faith and the Prophet Mohamed was a great man. I also found sucessful stories of Muslim Women enjoying thier complete rights. I know many Muslims who are sincere and never think to harm anybody. Please stop politicizing everything..we are fed up !

This is the longest "Joseph's Ladder" double helix of Irony I have ever in my life seen. A Muslim who lashes out at an author, while then telling THEM to "adjust their combative tone", who is an "intellectual", who's contributions to life on this site are reviews on daytime TV shows (Must be a night shift university they work for), who claims racist intention, yet labels someone a "zionist", while trying to defend Islam as some kind of peaceful religion, citing www.jewwatch.com. I know there's more contradictions in there, the depth of this irony knows no bounds... I'm going to print this discussion and frame it in my hallway so I can see how one can lose so much credibility in such a short amount of time. Thanks RJt

Hey RJ, I'll bet you as much as you would like that in the coming week, 10 times more people will be killed in the name of Islam than in the name of all other religions combined. How about it, would you like to make some money? Or would you prefer to stick to your tired, but baseless, cliches?

As a quick aside, let's drop the melodrama and accusations of combativeness. If you don't like the tone, I'm not exactly imploring your visitation and continual conversation, you haven't exactly brought anything to begin with that compels me to want to fawn upon you.

So in essence, you describe terrorism as any form of violence or incident that results in death. Now we see the problem: your definitions suck. Furthermore, fundamentally your position is absurd, there is nothing racist about cataloging information on a collective body of individuals who make a choice to adhere to a certain rule set. Disliking people because they're brown, believing them to be less than human, that's racist. Taking down the information on the document able and verifiable recent history is not racist - there is nothing racist about facts, and that you would try to invoke this denies your belittling attempts at silencing criticism of the Middle East.

continued ... As an intellectual, I am utterly bored with the same chest thumping and war mongering and racist rhetoric surrounding Muslims and the Middle East. The entire conversation is boring because it lacks facts, truth, personal inspection and national accountability for American foreign policy and a complete absence of responsibility for the death and suffering created by America in the Middle East. I can already conjecture what your reply will include: apologists for jewish and christian terrorism, excuses, looking for loopholes in the facts to excuse or discount the facts, outright denial and hostility. It is you that is uninformed and you use your ignorance and anger to fuel your hate which permits you to give credibilty to websites that preach hate, manipulated information and a myopic view of the larger facts. I was baffled by the hostility in your response to my posted comment but then I read your' profile and noticed thay your MOTTO is: War cannot be avoid

Barely. Scratched. Surface.

Adjust your combative tone when having a discussion with me or this will be the very last conversation I have with you. First of all simply titling a website thereligionofpeace.com connotes racist intention and anti-muslim under and over tones. That would be like someone creating a website called arejewshuman.com or godsforeignpolicyforcrazychristians.com ... see, those two websites are ugly and racist, the same rule applies to the website in your article. You would need dozens of websites dedicated to the documentation of death and terrorism committed by jews and christians in the past fifty years alone. Here are just a few: JEWISH TERRORISM: www.ifamericansknew.org also refer to this book: They Dared to Speak Out:People and institutions confront the israeli lobby a book by a former American Congressman Paul Findlay http://www.jewwatch.com/jew-terrorists-shin_bet.html http://www.wrmea.com/backissues/0995/9509083.htm http://www.britains-smallwars.com/Palestine/kidnap.h
