If you are thinking about rolling your own cigarettes it is easy to do and so cheap. This article looks at the different types of supplies out there and their associated costs.

The tobacco

Tobacco is available in pouches that will roll a pack for a cost of a dollar and a half.

You can also purchase tobacco in large bags for about nine dollars and they will roll about 400 cigarettes.

The smaller canisters will roll about 200 cigarettes or 10 packs and range in price from nine dollars to twelve dollars. The larger canisters will roll about 400 cigarettes.

Light, full flavor and menthol tobacco is available in pouches, bags, or canisters. Therefore, no matter what type of cigarettes you smoke there is your flavor available.

There are many brands of tobacco out there for sale; I prefer bugler tobacco simply because it had less stems or hard pieces in it. However, it is not always available so I usually get the top tobacco for a dollar less. The top tobacco is good, smokes easily but there are a few pieces of stems in there.

I prefer to buy the smaller canisters that way my tobacco is not getting stale. If I know money is going to be tight, I will save an empty tobacco can and replenish it with tobacco from a bag. The bags will go stale quicker unless they are kept in the freezer; these bags have the handy zip lock feature on them to keep out freezer odors.

The tubes

Every canister or bag of tobacco comes with cigarette papers but most smokers today tend to use the tubes that have a filter attached. The tubes come in both the normal size and the 120's the extra longs. Yes, you can make king or extra long size cigarettes with the right tubes.

Again, there are many brands of tubes out there I prefer Southern Cross tubes. These are sturdier, and undergo a better form of quality control then some brands.

Tubes come in boxes of either one hundred or two hundred. I buy only the two hundred box of tubes and a small canister of tobacco, they are perfect together.
