CEO of DAV National , Arthur H.Wilson made a statement regarding the efforts that The National Wild Turkey Federation are offering with saying that "outdoor recreation offers disabled veterans some wonderful opportunities that contribute to their rehabilitation and enjoyment of life," Wilson went on to say "Our partnership with the NWTF adds another dimension to the DAV's mission of service and hope for disabled veterans, helping them live healthier, more active and fulfilling lives."
The National Wild Turkey Foundation and the Disabled American Veterans signed an agreement on the August 12th during the DAV's National Convention. The two are hoping that working together will provide recreational activities for veterans who are interested in participating in outside activities, whether it be shooting, hunting, fishing, archery or any other outside activity.
The Wheelin' Sportsmen NWTF is going to provide all those people who are disabled the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors as much as anyone else can. The program is eager to get those people who want to participate outside and bring a sense of a more active lifestyle into their lives. Jim Sursely, who is a combat wounded triple amputee and an avid hunter says that "this isn't just hunting, and you don't have to be in a wheelchair to be involved. There's a lot of opportunities out there for disabled veterans to get out and live a more rewarding life. Outdoor sports have tremendous rehabilitative benefits and we're fortunate as a community to have NWTF and Wheelin' Sportsmen to give us the chance to go out and do these things."
