When we were looking for fun and safe toys for our 5 month old son, we stumbled across the Fisher Price Deluxe Jumperoo at Babies 'R' Us. We were looking for strong and colorful toys that would entertain our son when we needed to place him inside of something. One look at this item and I knew it was the perfect toy for him! It was brightly colored, had lights and music and seemed safe.I had seen the typical johnny jump-ups that hang from the doorway. However, I have mixed feelings about those items. Not only did we not have doorway ledges to actually hang the jumper from, out doorways were narrow and I was afraid he would bump into the walls and hit his head. The Fisher Price Deluxe Jumperoo solved that problem because it did not have to be hung and there was no possible way that he could hit his head on anything.
The jumperoo is more like an activity saucer actually. It has a cloth seat that you place the baby in and their legs are able to touch the floor. There are toys on the front of the jumperoo that light up and make noises. When the baby jumps, it rewards them by producing music and lights. Because there are springs on the sides, the baby is able to jump up and down. The springs are covered with thick material to prevent anything from becoming pinched inside. The legs are adjustable and have four settings. This allows the baby to get more use out of the jumperoo as they grow taller. Our son was still able to use the jumperoo at two years old!
I have nothing negative to say about the jumperoo, except that it is a little pricey. The Fisher Price Deluxe Jumperoo was about $70 brand new, but you can find them for less by looking on ebay, craigslist, consignment sales or local newspaper ads. Because the jumperoo is a popular item, we were able to resell our jumperoo for $45. I would recommend the Fisher Price Deluxe Jumperoo to anyone that is looking for an safe and entertaining area for their baby and toddler.
