The new season of Big Brother is in full swing. There are the usual difficulties of having strangers (or not) living in the same house, but there has been a twist this season. God has been thrown into the mix. There are many different views of God. Some people don't know if there is one or don't believe in one. The ones who believe in God don't necessarily agree on the degree of interest He takes in our lives. Some think that every little thing is important to Him and others believe that He just stuck us on this planet and doesn't really interfere. No matter what your belief, if you have been watching Big Brother, it makes you wonder what He would think of what is going on in there. Amber and Jameka have really put their faith on the line. They have made some comments about having visions and that they believed God would do such and such for them. I don't believe anything like this has ever really been put out there on reality television. As I have watched this season, I would stop and think if God really cares about what happens on Big Brother 8. I do believe that God has control of every detail of our lives. I believe He is very active if we allow Him and believe in Him, but I don't know if He really cares about what happens on this show. Almost every episode I have watched has caused me to stop and think about this dilemma. I have a hard time believing that God cares about the outcome of a reality show that practically encourages lying and cheating. I have not seen any behavior from these two that makes me believe they are Christians other than their words and sometimes their words aren't very pretty. There are too many contradictions for me to draw any conclusions. If I had to judge by their behavior, I would say that He doesn't really care about that show. Of course, He cares about the individuals, but the outcome of the show is just not important to Him.

Takeaways
  • Faith has never been a big issue for reality tv.
  • Big Brother 8 has serious spiritual issues in the house.
  • Amber and Jameka have put their faith on the line.

I know I am commenting on this one WAY WAY late, but it seems to be repeating itself again. It seems like in every reality show, ther eis always one person who feels like God will let the "good" people win. I say, hey, this is a worldly reality television show. You threw yourself into this game, and you are just as conniving as everyone else.

I don't buy the god mythology at all. That said, whether I did or not I would find Jameka and Amber as disgusting. That the hold themselves so self-important to a "god" who would take in iterest in their pathetic existences while thousands of children die everyday, speaks volumes about their character. And if there is a god that does, it would speak volumes about his..
