The month-old site is the newest in the wave of user-generated websites, featuring upload options for users that include pictures and videos.
That means internet users can go to Highschoolplaybook.com instead of Yutube.com, where high school sports video clips are often hard to find among the plethora of other content.
Better yet, highschoolplaybook.com is an excellent resource for high schools. There are pages for high schools, regardless of sports interest, as well as discussion groups. It's not just about highlights; it's about school spirit.
More importantly, Highschoolplaybook.com focuses on what's local. Whereas big sites like Youtube.com focus on the international side of things, Highschoolplaybook.com works closely with local news outfits to report stats, weather, and directions.
Highschoolplaybook.com even lets high school kids do sideline reporting! Many of these clips will even make it on television-featured on the local evening news in some areas.
The guidelines are simple for joining and contributing to Highschoolplaybook.com. It's totally free, although the pages are swamped with advertisements, namely the ones proclaiming "Boo Yah," which is Highschoolplaybook.com's slogan. The only rules are that videos can't be longer than 10 minutes, and must be less than 94 megabytes in size.
Of course, nothing offensive or inappropriate can be uploaded to Highschoolplaybook.com.
Currently, the site only features six areas (Central Florida, Baltimore, Sacramento, Cincinnati, Winston-Salem, and Greenville), but this shouldn't stop users from joining an area that's closest to them.
Highschoolplaybook.com will undoubtedly blow up over the next six months. As football season progresses and basketball season begins, visitors and members will be logging on to the site in hordes. It's a great outlet for media, and could even be considered a major contributor to record keeping archives.
