Are African-American Women Short Changing Themselves in Dating and Relationships?

There is a sense of desperation going around. The perception that there are no good available black men makes black women think if they find one they must hold on to him for dear life despite being number two or three in his life. Self esteem comes from within and it cannot be found in a relationship. If you value who you are then you won't allow yourself to be subjected to disrespect.

Yes, Black women are shortchanging themselves by men sharing and other despicable acts just to say we have a man. Sister, you are enough. You are woman enough for one man. If you don't believe this, then you need to start working on YOU to bring your self-esteem and self-worth up to par. I agree with many of your points, which is why I did not like Terry Mcmillians(probably spelling it wrong) book. When I have to read books involving black woman in romantic relationships they seem to, more often than not, come off looking like complete morons when it comes to men. It worries me, when writers who happen to be black and women, keep portraying the same kind of black woman, ones who are in lousy relationships with bad taste, and the inability to make good romantic choices. I understand that type of conflict maybe more interesting in literature but it bothers me and I shrink from it.

A good permanent relationship might be impossible for you to find.So take whatever is available and enjoy!!
