These vintage inspired snowflake and tree centerpieces look absolutely classic and stunning for any holiday table! Make just a few for a small gathering or a bunch for your next holiday party. For this project, you will need:
- A variety of small terra cotta pots
- Krylon Interior - Exterior Spray Paint in Silver
- A wire clothes hanger
- Wire cutters
- Silver seed beads
- Two sets minimum of Anna Griffin "Eliza Snowflake" Die Cuts (available in stores or online at Oak Leaf Acre Scrapbook Supplies)
- Gold acrylic paint
- An artist's paintbrush
- Acrylic finishing spray
- Enough newspaper to cover your entire workspace
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Begin by first coating your entire workspace with newspaper. Spray one terra cotta pot with Krylon Interior - Exterior paint in a silver color. Make sure both the interior and exterior or the pot is coated well. Allow the paint to dry well before adding a second coat. Repeat with any remaining pots you wish to make centerpieces from.
Cut a length of wire from the clothes hanger using the wire cutters. This should be about as long as you wish your snowflakes and Christmas tree designs to stick up from the terra cotta pot. Cut two lengths for each centerpiece. Coat each piece with two to three coats of spray paint and allow them to dry thoroughly.
Heat up the hot glue gun. Secure one piece of wire to the back of a "four pointed snowflake" die cut. Allow the glue to dry before adding a second die cut to "sandwich" the wire between the two. Repeat the process with the second piece of wire and two of the "Christmas tree" die cuts.
With the gold acrylic paint and an artist's brush, add additional details to your terracotta pot. This could be words like "Noel" and "Peace" or phrases such as "Merry Christmas." Once the paint has dried, coat each pot with acrylic finishing spray.
Fill the terra cotta pot with silver seed beads. These should be just full enough to hold up the wire decorations when inserted. Insert each wire (one snowflake, one tree) into the pot. Enjoy!
