These blue-floral decoupage ornaments are easy for any beginning-level of crafter and make an excellent gift! If you are looking for a n atypical Christmas-ornament idea, this is a perfect project.

For this project, you will need:

- Two-inch Styrofoam balls (such as the ones found online at Sav-on Crafts)

- Mod Podge

- Several straight pins

- Decorative scissors

- K & Company Addison Blue Garden Swirls print paper (found in stores and online at Oak Leaf Acre Scrapbook Supplies)

- Small bowl filled with water

- Acrylic finishing spray

- Dusk blue organdy ribbon

- Hot glue gun and glue sticks

- Small ornament hook

Start by first cutting several sheets of K & Company Addison Blue Garden Swirls print paper into decorative strips with the decorative scissors. These should be no more than one quarter of an inch wide and long enough to wrap around the ball once.

Apply a liberal amount of Mod Podge directly onto the Styrofoam ball. Place one straight pin through the end of one strip of decorative paper. Set for a moment into the bowl of water, just long enough to keep the edges from curling. Remove from the water and push the pin into the top of the foam ball. With your fingers, adhere the paper to the ball and Mod Podge. Apply additional Mod Podge over the top of the paper to smooth.

Press a second straight pin into an additional strip of paper. Repeat the process of dipping in the water. Place the pin in the new strip into the foam ball where the former decorative strip ends to hold it in place. Secure the new paper to the ball using the same method outlined above. Continue this process of wrapping paper pieces until the ball is completely covered. Leave all pins in place until the Mod Podge has fully dried.

Spray the entire ornament with acrylic finishing spray. Secure the ornament hook into the top of the foam ball.

Cut a lengthy of dusk blue organdy ribbon. Wrap around the ball and tie in a bow. For added security, add a drop or two of hot glue.

Takeaways
  • For an additional "winter" look, consider other small details.

You have a lot of great ideas! One thing I would like to see with your pieces though is a picture of the finished product...I'm a visual kind of crafty person so it helps me put the instructions together.
