Shopping at Goodwill

I love garage sales so imagine my surprise when I realized that Goodwill was really a huge garage sale only better. Like a garage sale others get rid of what they don't want but are still in good condition and use-able. Unlike garage sales it is inside and everything is clean and neatly set out. Unlike a garage sale is it always in the same spot and opened all day week long. The money made from Goodwill is used to employee and train people with disabilities.
Goodwill has not only clothes but other household goods too. Not everything at Goodwill is used some things are still new in the box or with price tags on them. In a recent trip I found a beautiful set of dishes still in the box for half the price of what the store wanted. I have also found many arts and crafts supplies for both me and my children.
I have also found that the local Goodwill also sells new mattress and box springs. Other household goods include dishes, paintings, furniture and nick knacks. Ours also occasionally sells boxes of diapers and laundry detergent.
I have also found Goodwill very useful for buying school uniforms for my children. While they don't always have the size I need they usually have almost new like clothes for children. It is also a good place to buy play clothes and shoes. They also have a very good section of books and toys for children.
I have recently discovered that Goodwill also has an online auction site. Shopgoodwill.com is an auction site with clothes, collectibles, art, antiques, and odds and ends up for auction. The site is similar to eBay. Just like in the stores all the money spent on the site goes towards helping others.
