I might be a bit of a snob but I always thought that the only people who shopped at Goodwill were poor. I had a stereotype in mind and I had never even stepped into the store and never wanted to be seen there. Until one day while my friend and I were shopping she convinced me to go in the local Goodwill.

I love garage sales so imagine my surprise when I realized that Goodwill was really a huge garage sale only better. Like a garage sale others get rid of what they don't want but are still in good condition and use-able. Unlike garage sales it is inside and everything is clean and neatly set out. Unlike a garage sale is it always in the same spot and opened all day week long. The money made from Goodwill is used to employee and train people with disabilities.

Goodwill has not only clothes but other household goods too. Not everything at Goodwill is used some things are still new in the box or with price tags on them. In a recent trip I found a beautiful set of dishes still in the box for half the price of what the store wanted. I have also found many arts and crafts supplies for both me and my children.

I have also found that the local Goodwill also sells new mattress and box springs. Other household goods include dishes, paintings, furniture and nick knacks. Ours also occasionally sells boxes of diapers and laundry detergent.

I have also found Goodwill very useful for buying school uniforms for my children. While they don't always have the size I need they usually have almost new like clothes for children. It is also a good place to buy play clothes and shoes. They also have a very good section of books and toys for children.

I have recently discovered that Goodwill also has an online auction site. Shopgoodwill.com is an auction site with clothes, collectibles, art, antiques, and odds and ends up for auction. The site is similar to eBay. Just like in the stores all the money spent on the site goes towards helping others.

I used to think the same thing. I speak of Salvation Army stores. It's a lot smarter to pay 10 dollars for brand new brand name clothes than pay retail price. THE FOOLS!

I love to go to Goodwill. I've found lots of interesting stuff. Target often sends their damaged items to our Goodwills.

I love the Goodwill stores here, sometimes brand new clothes and some tried and true.

I don't think I've been inside a Goodwill shop. I'll have to try and find one around here. Sophie
