Remembering September 11th

Let's Show the World We Haven't Forgotten

Practice Patriotism on the Web.

Several online campaigns urge American citizens and friends to remind the world that we still remember and grieve the sad events of September 11, 2001. We have certainly not forgotten the terrorist attacks, crashing airplanes into New York's World Trade
Center and the American Pentagon building.

Here are a few simple, but practical, ways each of us can make a public statement to honor those we lost on that tragic day, just six years ago. We can salute their still-bereaved friends and families. And we can send a nonverbal message of our patriotism to the rest of the globe.

Let the world see that Americans still stand together!

Fly a Flag.

Emails are flying, and so should Old Glory! On Tuesday, September 11, 2007, let's fly as many American flags as we can. Every home and each business can display the star spangled banner, waving proudly in the breeze!

Shortly after the 9-11 tragedy, our flag was omnipresent. Everyone displayed flags at home, at work and even on their vehicles. Gradually, the stars and stripes became less visible. Let's bring the flag back, especially on September 11th.

Leave the Lights On.

On this anniversary date, we can all drive our cars with the headlights lit, even in daylight. By doing so, we can alert others on the road that we support our country.

Funeral processions usually travel with headlights turned on. By doing this on 9-11, we can show our respect and remembrance for those who perished on this dark day.

Just be sure to switch your light off when you silence your engine, or you may find out which of your countrymen are willing to stand with you, while holding a set of booster cables!

Repeat the Pledge.

On September 11th, at noon, we can all pause for a moment to repeat the Pledge of Allegiance. ("I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.")
