Cold Weather Flea Market Tips
September in the northern part of the United States is still summer. The only possible chill you may experience as a September flea market vendor is in the very early morning when you are setting up your table by moonlight. Of course, some flea markets have later times when you are
allowed to enter the grounds, so the chill won't come into play this month.
But time marches on for the flea market vendor, and soon things will be downright cold in the morning, and a bit chilly all day long. What do you do when the crowds start to stay away?
Well, you have to figure out if going to the flea market to sell is really worth your while. Will your products sell in the cold weather? Can you change your product line to something that will sell better?
I spent quite a few late falls at the flea market, and one thing that always sold was cheap gloves. People would come to the flea market, figure out that it was too cold for comfort, and buy my gloves. I had people that bought them every week.
If selling at the flea market in the cold weather is not worth your while, you might want to go online for the winter months. Online auctions, such as eBay, are one option. Making your own website is another. If you are not technologically inclined, you might want to use a classified service like Craig's list to sell individual items.
For many winter is a time to stock up for the next year of flea market sales. Start accumulating items and taking care of inventory. Before you know it, spring will be here again, and the flea market season will swing into full gear.
