Quick and Easy Home Decorating Ideas for Fall
If you like to redecorate your home each season, here are some quick and easy ways to do it without blowing your budget. You probably have some of these items already in your home, or can find them at a local discount store for under $20 each.
When decorating for fall, colors make a big difference, so use a lot of deep rich colors such as burgundy, dark orange, deep yellow, all shades of brown
or gold, and deep rich greens.
Floors
1. Decorative wooden boxes for the floor or a bare corner of a room.
2. Deep rich colored throw rugs in the entry way of your house.
Walls and Windows
1. Press and dry leaves that have fallen from your trees and put them in a photo frame.
2. Decorate narrow strips of burlap with small acorns or nuts and wind them around your curtain rods.
3. Snap photos of fall scenes and frame them to put on the walls.
Living room
1. Toss colorful throw pillows on the couch or in front of the fireplace.
2. Tall vases with seasonal faux flowers and greenery by the fireplace.
3. Replace your white lampshades with something in a fall color.
Kitchen
1. Fresh green apples in a basket make a nice centerpiece.
2. Tablecloths, napkins, oven mitts, and dishcloths are some of my favorite ways to decorate the kitchen in a fall theme.
3. Set out a cute pair of salt and pepper shakers with a fun fall style on them.
Tabletops
1. Set decorative trays and bowls on your end tables. They can either be empty or filled with your favorite bowl filler items.
2. Vases or bowls filled with seasonal scented potpourri are always a great addition and don't cost a lot of money.
3. There is always the old standby of pumpkins, probably safer to go with ceramic rather than fresh ones if you're putting them on a tabletop.
Bath
1. Lay out hand towels in your favorite fall color.
2. Surround your tub with candles or baskets filled with seasonal items and colors.
Bedroom
1. Update the linens on your bed with fall colors.
2. Toss a colorful throw on the bed to bring the new season into the room.
3. Put a duvet cover over your favorite quilt or bedspread to change the look from spring to fall.
Exterior
1. Hang a colorful wreath on your front door made from dried leaves and berries.
