Everyone loves to receive a gift basket full of different goodies. There is no better time to make up a basket than if a friend or family member is expecting a baby. It could be the perfect baby shower gift.

The expecting mom will be so delighted that you took the time to create her a gift basket rather than just buy a gift card or some other item that you ran in to Target and grabbed off the shelf on the way to the shower.

If you know the theme of the nursery you could buy or make items that will match the theme. If you are good at sewing you could make a custom lamp shade or night light cover to match the theme. Other wise you could include a mobile, a soothing sound CD. A good example of a soothing sound CD would be a CD with sounds of the ocean crashing in. Toys that will add an educational benefit seem to be very popular these days. Baby Einstein seems to stimulate the baby's mental development.

You can fill up empty space in your basket with small items that the baby will need such as, bibs, bottles, pacifiers, rattles, and spoons.

A bath themed basket would be very cute and fun to make. You could find a basket and put some yellow rubber ducks in it with baby powder, shampoo, towels, brush, faucet cover (duck themed), nail clippers, tub toys, tub mat, shower gel, and baby lotion. Johnson and Johnson have a whole line of Lavender scented bath items that it supposed to soothe a baby (and possibly help make them go to sleep!). You could also include a baby robe and sleeping outfit in the basket.

You could make a food basket. You could include M&M's in either pink or blue, baby cookies that you made and iced with the appropriate color, Similac etc.

A mom would love to receive the invitation that she sent out to guest framed for her. You could make a 3-D frame and put the invitation in it with small baby bottles and rattles that can purchased and just about any craft store. If you could get the dad-to-be to give you some pictures (without her knowing) of her pregnant and maybe the ultra sound picture you could get her started on a scrapbook.
