Add a definite vintage and unique floral accent to your holiday tree décor with this fabulous aqua blue and brown floral glass ornament! Make one for a gift, or several for an entire themed tree. For this project, you will need:
- Several clear glass ball ornaments (such as the ones found online at Sav-on Crafts)
- Aqua acrylic paint
- Brown acrylic paint
- Rubbing alcohol
- Mod Podge
- Several sheets of Tres Jolie Summe Floral and Brown Paper (available in stores or online at Paper Addict)
- Scissors
- Small bowl filled with water
- Paper towels
- Paper cup big enough to set the ornament into to dry
- Letter stencils spelling out "Noel"
- Acrylic finishing spray
Start first by removing the hanging cap from the clear glass ball ornament. Rinse the inside of the ornament with rubbing alcohol, as this will help the paint adhere to the inside of the glass. Set the ornament upside down on paper towels or inside your paper cup to dry. Make sure all rubbing alcohol has dried before continuing!
Pour a quarter sized amount of aqua colored acrylic paint into the bottom of the glass ball and let it pool. Add a second quarter sized amount of brown colored acrylic paint to the inside of the glass. Lightly swirl the ball around so that the bottom of the ornament becomes marbled, but the rest of the glass stays clear. Set the ornament in the paper cup and let sit until the paint is completely dry.
Cut 1/4 inch thick by three inch long strips of Tres Jolie Summe Floral and Brown paper. Fold each strip "accordion style" thinly, alternating which side of the paper shows out. Neatly stuff each folded strip into the glass ornament until the entire thing is loosely full with paper. (The aqua and blue of the strips should just barely show through the glass.)
