Whilst researching my book AROMATHERAPY & HERBALISM - The Complete Home User's Guide, I looked through documentation, trawled through libraries, spoke to healers, wiccans, spiritualists and generally had a blast. At the end of my book which is set out alphabetically using both essential oils, flowers and herbal recipies to cure physical and psychological ailments, I set aside a little room for some of the most bizzare cures I came across during my 3 year research. I could not fit them all in so I am now going to tell you bizzare superstitions relating to GOLF.

GOLF:

Superstitions run firmly through people who play golf as they do through most sports. Here are just a few taboos about golfing:

- Every golfers has a "lucky club" in their golfbag even if they never use it

- If you take a club out of the golfbag you must never change your mind as this is highly unlucky

- Every golfer should be extra careful when playing the thirteenth hole

- Carry an acorn to improve your game

- When approaching the tee never, I mean never, approach it from the front -highly unlucky

- If you are having a great round of golf do not clean the ball as your luck will change

- Always use ball number 3 or 5 to tee off and turn the number towards the hole you are aiming for

- Never introduce a new ball half way through a game

- Whenever you can, start playing your round before 12 noon , best time for luck in golfing

- Finally, the old saying that goes back to Scotland where golf originated "he who wins the first hole, wins the round"

Hope you enjoyed

As an avid golfer I think these are great. I really dislike when someone writes a bad review and does not even bother to give their name. Not only are they hiding they are not even AC members. Number 6 is my little superstition WRITE ON!

Some of these are not superstitions, but common sense. "Never approach the tee box from the front", for example, because you may get hit by a ball! "Tee-off before noon" because a round takes 4- 5 hours and the hottest point of the day is 5 pm. "Never change your mind about club selection" is simply a way to keep play moying and avoid dilly-dallying. "He who wins the first hole" is old-fashioned trash-talk. Very disappointing article- you've displayed a clear lack of knowledge of golf. It brings into question your "research methods".
