Everyone has fears. Fear is a natural part of life. Many people have fairly common fears. Some of these include the fear of death, flying, heights, small enclosed spaces, spiders, fear of the dark and more. Then there are the less common fears such as fear of driving, fear of people or fear of going out in public alone. But there are even more unusual fears. We will take a look at some of the more unusual fears in this article.

Everyone has ideas but did you know that there are people who have a fear of ideas? It is called ideophobia. This is definitely one of the more unusual fears that people suffer from. Although I will admit that I've had some strange or negative thoughts from time to time that I wasn't too happy with I can't honestly ever remember an idea that frightened me. I suppose anything is possible.

Melanophobia is a fear of the color black. Actually black is not a color but rather the absence of color or light. I never realized that there was a fear of colors. Although I do not know for certain where this fear stems from it would seem plausible to assume that a fear of black would have its roots in the connotations of black with darkness and evil, so it is fairly understandable that some people would have such a fear.

Gymnophobia is a fear of nudity. I do not know if this fear relates specifically to being nude or seeing others in the nude. If it does indeed relate to being nude then it is not all that unusual. There are many people who do not like to expose their bodies. Many young people in school do not like to take showers after gym class since they feel awkward and embarrassed. If on the other hand the fear relates to nudity in the general sense it is understandable why it would be considered an unusual fear.

Most people hate to vomit. After all, it is just plain disgusting. But some people have a phobia about vomiting. It is referred to as emetophobia.

I definitely had a fear of nudity as a teenager after PE class. We had a really creepy PE teacher who would watch us undress. She made many of us girls afraid in the changing rooms. Sophie
