You finished a weekend of Netflix rentals and they made an impression. Some were pretty good, a few pretty bad, and the others just awful. The dialog in one comedy sounded made up by kids. For all you know, that's who wrote it. You can do better - or at least no worse than those scripts.

Dissolve To: You've finished a script and polished it to a fine shine. Now what?

If you already have an agent, you're ahead of the game. Your agent will contact industry professionals to get script interest. If not, you have nobody to take you to those power lunches. Get ready to do the legwork needed to assemble contact lists. Like most everything today, the web has made things quicker and easier.

Script P.I.M.P. - Pipeline Into Motion Pictures - is a pay website for serious film writers who want their material read and sold. I've been a member for 2 years now and I'm definitely a satisfied customer.

Script P.I.M.P is broken into:

Personal Information

Your contact info is input here to use in other forms on the site. It's a convenient, secure way to keep your current address, email, phone number, etc. It's easily updated when things on your end change.

My Notes

This is an outline area for sketching out plot, characters and screenplay structure. What's nice about this aside from having a clear breakdown of a script's elements is the ease of always having notes handy for brainstorming or even pitch sessions. Expensive writing software may do it better, but this included in the package is a nice feature.

Current Writing Competition

Each year, the service holds a screenplay competition. The entry fee is $40.00. Prizes vary from year to year.

Database Services

Here's the meat and potatoes of the site. It's where you'll browse and connect with over 1325 companies - literary agencies, producers and management companies who list entries stating types of scripts they want to read. Complete contact information like phone, fax and email is provided as well as manner of preferred contact such as "email only" - etc.

The first line says it all - currently the Netflix fare is 24 and Nip/Tuck - combine those two shows for a new hit eh? Ok, maybe I need the expensive screenwriting software first - or medication. :-)

It sounds like a good deal to me. In the past, I was sent through the film script selling "Catch 22", wherein no agent wanted to see my work unless I'd had a produced script, and no studio wanted to even hear from me unless I had an agent. While in the midst of that chaos, I had a story stolen that became a "Movie Of The Week" and eventually a syndicated TV series.

This seems like it would make script selling a lot easier!
