How to Say No Politely
I like to think that people are pretty nice in general. I like to think of myself as nice (though I know many people who would disagree with that statement). But when it comes to the service industry I think that people tend to be a lot nicer and kinder than they need to be. Here are a three times that you should not grin and bear it.
Hairdresser
I don't know how many times I've received a bad haircut and not complained. And by talking with many of my friends I guess that most women are like this. I think that women that choose not to complain do so out of fear of hurting the hairdresser's feelings. This is why I don't normally complain. I always say to myself "well its just hair it will grow back". But the fact of the matter is if you receive a bad haircut you should complain.
I've received a bad hair cut just this past weekend. I had fairly long hair and went in for a trim and my roots touched up. What I left with was a beautiful blonde colored mullet. But the mullet was only on one side of my head. My hair was all one length on the left and a mullet on the right. But I said nothing and I even left her a 25 dollar tip. I went home to my husband who turned me right back around to go complain. I was extremely nervous to say the least. I hate confrontation. But the woman who cut my hair was very kind and apologetic. She fixed my hair (free of charge of course) by cutting it very short. And to my surprise it turned out to be the cutest cuts I have ever received. At least that's what people keep telling me.
The Doctor
In general you have to wait at the doctor's office. This is a given but you should never have to wait longer that 15 minutes without someone informing you with what is going on. If you do have to wait for an extended period of time don't tell the doctor "oh that's okay" when he apologizes for being so tardy to your appointment. Because you know it's not okay. So stop being so damn nice.
