What They Claim
The Italian recipes here at Gnocco seem to be taken out of a secret archive of superb cuisines and brought to an accessible level by the typical New Yorker. The food here is light, much like the meals would be back in a little Italian town back in Europe, and leaves one feeling full, yet not uncomfortable. Pasta here at Gnocco has been mastered to a "T," and one who considers themselves a true Italian food lover should be sure to make the trip to this restaurant for a great meal.
Not only is the food light, but also is the atmosphere. Smells of garlic and food cooking waft all over throughout Gnocco Restaurant, making one hungry before they even receive their menu. The colors used here are the oldie but goodie paints used in most Italian restaurants, but the garden area out back is what sets Gnocco apart from the other Italian restaurants. Coupled with their terrific dishes, the setting here at this restaurant is one that will not be soon forgotten.
What We Say
Not only does the food seem like it's from Italy, but one soon finds out the chefs preparing it are actually from there. With these authentic Italian chefs, anything but the best soon becomes unacceptable at Gnocco. The name "Gnocco" come from an Italian dish consisting of chewy pieces of fried bread, which is a great starting point for any newcomer to this restaurant. The pasta is a must-have going there, however one may leave hungry because of the smaller portions they give at Gnocco Restaurant.
Gnocco has done an almost perfect job in creating the perfect setting and atmosphere at this restaurant. Italian is spoken by a good portion of the wait staff and chefs, and ballads will even begin once in a great while. The color scheme is very typical, however it does have a nice look to it, and a great aura is created during one's entire meal there. One of the only downfalls is that the dining room can become quite cramped, however it's not bad enough to really affect one's meal.
