If you have even had ingrown toenails then you know how painful they can be. Your toe can get tender and sore and in some cases can get infected. It is hard to wear shoes on your feet because of the pressure put on your toe. One of the main reasons we get ingrown toenails is because we cut our toenails too short. And then it makes your toenail grow in to the skin around your toe. Your big toes are the most likely to get ingrown toenails. But all your other toes can get ingrown toenails as well. Sometimes even wearing the wrong size shoes can give you a ingrown toenail. This can happen if your shoes are too tight on your feet. So try and pick out the right size shoes to fit your feet.

There are a few ways we can treat our ingrown toenails. If we have a ingrown toenail we should always soak our feet in warm water a few times a day. This helps to soften the skin around our toe making it less painful. Make sure you keep clean socks on each day. And don't wear shoes while you are at home. Just wear socks to keep your feet clean. If you have to go out wear socks and a opened toe shoe such as sandals on your feet. Sandals will be less painful on your feet when walking around. If your toe does not seem to get any better after awhile go and see your doctor. He may need to prescribe you antibiotics. To cure the infection on your toe.

One of the ways to stop getting ingrown toenails is to properly learn how to cut your toenails. We all would like for our feet to look their best. And cut our toenails to look neat and manicured. But sometimes that is not a good choice for a lot of us. If you have been known to get ingrown toenails before you should cut your toenails differently then other people do. You should cut your toenails straight across leaving some of your toenail out past your skin. This will keep your toenail from growing back in to your skin. Do not cut your toenails with rounded corners. This can also make you get a ingrown toenail. These are just a few of the ways to help prevent getting ingrown toenails. Keep your feet clean at all times and wear the right size shoes.

Try a bit longer sentences; it sounds a bit like a juinor high student's writing. Good info though...thanks.

Every time I read the phrase, "a ingrown toenail," I flinch. It's the one recurring grammatical error in this article that really bothers me. Please be sure to use "an" in front of words that start with a vowel. I bet just that one change will give your article a better rating! Other than that, thanks for the info. I have an ingrown toenail right now, and I'm trying to find ways to treat it the best I can. I have an appointment with my podiatrist, but not for a week!
