When you enter the vet clinic you will need to have your pet restrained with a leash or put them in a carrier. You will need to go up to the desk and check in your pet so that the vet knows you are there. After about ten minutes, somebody will come and call you back. The first thing they will most likely do is check the weight of your pet. They will write this down and keep track each time that you come to the vet clinic. If you have an immunization card for your pet you might want to bring this with you to the vet clinic. If your pet is a new pet you will probably have to have your pet get a few shots or immunizations.

Now, your vet will go through a detailed over view of your pets history. All problems that your pet has had you will need to let the vet know. If your animal has any health problems you will also want to tell the vet about it. It will take about thirty minutes to go through the history of your pet.

Now your vet will check through your pets body parts such as lungs, etc. The vet will listen to the lungs, feel the stomach, and check the ears, nose and mouth. The vet will do a quick run through of the health of your pet. You will also want to ask any questions that you may have about the behavior or problems you are having with your pet. If you have a dog for example that is very destructive you will want to let the vet know and he or she can help you find a solution.

Your vet might run tests on your pets depending on the different outcomes of his exam. Do not be alarmed, this is just to make sure that everything is alright. Perhaps your pet has a little bit of gas or something wrong with your pets ear which is minor. There are a lot of things that could come up but most of the time everything is alright. Vets are very skilled and they can handle many different problems with medication or surgery if necessary.

You will most likely be called by your vet in a few days following the vet visit. They will make sure that any new problems have not come up. They will also make sure that your pet is acting normal after the exam and possible shots or immunizations.

Takeaways
  • Health exam will be done
  • Pet history will be examined
  • Expect everything to last about one hour.
