Randy and Paula White Divorce: Something Doesn't Add Up

The news of Paula and Randy White's decision to divorce came as a painful shock to me, as to many other Christians.

While I did not always have use for some aspects of Paula White's preaching ministry, I enjoyed her half-hour TV show Paula White Today and often listened to it via an Internet feed. I learnt a lot from her
teaching and I even once bought a CD with one of her sermons, which she was offering along with a book by an author that I admired. So hearing of the divorce plans left me stunned.

Even more shocking to me than the news of the divorce, however, was the explanation given for the split. For Christians of the Pentecostal movement, citing "two lives going in different directions" as the justification for divorce is incomprehensible. It sounds as wrongheaded as someone blowing off the most important opportunity of their lives for a flimsy excuse like rainy weather. If the two of them are running their lives and their ministries under the authority and direction of the Holy Spirit, I do not understand how the marriage has reached the point where they feel there is no option but to go their separate ways.

Jesus, speaking about marriage, proclaimed: "So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate." (Matthew 19:6, NKJV). Where, under this clear declaration, is there room for a couple to call it quits because their lives seem to be moving away from each other? When challenged by the Pharisees about how Moses permitted divorce, Jesus replied, "Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries antoher woman commits adultery." Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.(Matthew 19:8-9, NKJV)

PAULA AND RANDY, YOU BOTH REMEMBER THIS: GOD WILL NOT BE MOCKED, THERE IS WOLVES IN SHEEP CLOTHING, AND THE LOVE OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL. YOU CAN SHUCK AND JIVE ON EARTH, BUT ONE WAY OR THE OTHER YOU BOTH WILL MEET JESUS ONE DAY. BRING THOSE MILLIONS WITH YOU OK. YES, I KNOW JESUS DIED ON THAT CROSS FOR TRASH LIKE YOU AND ME, BUT TO OFFEND SO MANY OF HIS CHILDREN, IT WOULD BE BETTER IF YOU BOTH HAD A MILL STONE AROUND YOUR NECKS, AND DROWNED IT THE SEA. MY PRAYER FOR YOU BOTH IS: MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON YOU BOTH, AND EXTEND HIS GRACE TO EACH ONE OF YOU IF YOU CAN HUMBLE THOSE LYING HEARTS TO CONFESS. GOOD NIGHT- DEAR JESUS .

You cannot use someones life or mistake as the mirror by which you make your decisions. You need to stay in constant prayer and wait on the Lord, for He will direct your path. do not look at man, these people are sinners just like us.

i throught that a person wasn't supposed to get married more that once. I was married at the age or six-teen, and divorced at seven-teen. I never remarried because I did not wan't to live in adultrey. What is the world coming too? What happened to the old time religion? If "GOD" doesn't change; How can we live like the Devil and still go to HEAVEN?

I AM CONFUSED! IM THINKING ABOUT DIVORCING MY HUSBAND BUT THOUGHT GOD WAS AGAINST IT SO I KEEP HOLDING ON! SO SHOULD I GO AHEAD WITH IT? IS IT GODS WILL? THE WHITES ARE POWERFUL PEOPLE OF GOD, SO I GUESS THAT IF GODS O.K. WITH THEIR DIVORCE,WHY NOT MINE?

I don't really understand the reason for this divorce. Nothing has been explained that justifies this divorce, no biblical grounds for it. I pray that they would work on their marriage and forsake all other things. God comes first then family, then ministry. The simple explanation that they are going in different direction in ministry or to expand themselves in ministry in not justifiable. I am not judging in any way and I understand that there are many things that can try to bring separation in a marraige, but as I said before GOD FIRST, THEN FAMILY AND THEN MINISTRY.

To: "Servant", you deserve a medal of honor for being the honorable one and staying in your marriage, as God directs. God bless you, and never, never, never give up.

Last night on TBN Paula White said some beautiful things about worship, the presence of God, and how individuals are not defined by what others say about them. I agreed with almost everything she said. She illustrated how King David could give up his wives, the palace, and all his riches, but he could not live without the presence of God. The same may very well come true for Paula. Yes, she may also someday have to give up everything, for the privilege of the presence of God. What she claimed last night, may very well come true for HER life.
