What makes it great for kids is obvious; the climbing tubes, bridges and slides, the free games and cartoons. It's great for parents because they can play the computer touch screen games, which have puzzles, strategy games and more, and the seating area is clean and comfortable. I like to take my 6 & 4 year olds to the new McDonalds and read the paper. Even though it can be loud at time I find it easy enough to keep an eye on my children and read the paper. Also, they are being monitored/recorded by dome CCTV and there is just one entrance with is a sliding automatic door that opens via a motion detector. Of course there are two emergency exits as well. The play area was designed into the building and shares the same climate comforts as the rest of the restaurant rather then being an old outside play area that was enclosed and is cold in the winter and hot in the summer.
As for the regular customers, they can enjoy their meal away from the noise of the play area in a clean and modern setting with several TVs tuned to a variety of adult programming such as soap operas or news. You can read a free paper while eating your meal and enjoy free refills of whatever you are drinking, including the great new sweet tea and most now have free wireless internet access.
Because of space constraints and zoning not every new McDonalds will be as big to have such a nice play area for young children but if you are fortunate enough to have one in your area go check it out. Your kids will love it and maybe even the kid in you as well.
