Djokovic Doubles as Comedian After U.S. Quarter-final
It wasn't enough for the fans in New York to see Novak Djokovic defeat Carlos Moya in the quarter-finals of the U.S. Open. They needed to see more of the 20 year old's talent. Only this talent wasn't his tennis skills, it was his comedy routine.
At the end of his post-match interview, that already included several humorous quips, Djokovic was prodded into performing impressions of two of the world most famous tennis players. First he was asked to do his Maria Sharapova impression. Djokovic got into
character by pulling up his shorts and showing some serious leg. Then he proceeded to do a spot on impression of the Sharapova serve complete with pre-serve bouncing, playing with the racquet string, and an ultra intense look.
Next he was asked to do his version of Raphael Nadal. Without hesitation he quickly sagged his shorts like capris, and rolled up his sleeves. Then he took off in a mad Nadal dash towards the service line. When he got to the line he gave everyone in the crowd what they want to see with an exaggerated tugging of the seat of his shorts.
Djokovic's expressions were as impressive as his performance on the court, and probably received more applause than his play. Djokovic is a rising star in the sport of tennis, and will quickly become a crowd favorite for his play and his personality.
