In the United States, plastic surgery of any sort is known to be very expensive. Many who are interested in having a plastic surgery procedure performed are unable to do so due to the high cost. If you really want to have a certain plastic surgery procedure, or any other type of procedure for the matter, chances are that you are willing to go great lengths to have it done. One of the alternatives that many Americans are turning to is having a plastic surgery procedure performed in Mexico, where the prices are known to be a lot less expensive. Here, we will take a much closer look at the differences in cost and some of the other things that you should take into consideration before deciding to have a plastic surgery procedure, or any other type of procedure, performed in Mexico.

How Much Cheaper is Plastic Surgery in Mexico than the U.S.?

It is definitely safe to say that plastic surgery in Mexico is a whole lot cheaper than plastic surgery in the United States. For example, a face lift is known to cost between $5,000 and $6,000 in the United States. In Mexico, a face lift costs between $2,000 and $2,500. While a tummy tuck may only cost you about $3,000 in Mexico, you will be likely to pay double that amount or even more in the United States. The cost of a breast reduction is often $9,000 in the U.S., whereas it is only about $2,500 in Mexico. As you can tell, there is a huge difference in prices of certain plastic surgery procedures that are performed in the U.S. as compared to Mexico. This was just to name a few of the prices of some of the many different plastic surgery procedures, of course. No matter what type of plastic surgery procedure you are interested in having performed, you will be likely to find that the cost is a lot less expensive in Mexico than the United States.

Don't forget that many of the Mexican surgeons are certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons and have the same memberships and certifications as American doctors. A friend of mine had a post massive weight loss surgery in Monterrey, Mexico performed by these doctors: www.perfectabeautyhospital.com They are known for being the best doctors in the north of Mexico. The result she got was AMAZING and she flew back to Denver just 4 days after the surgery. Sure, they're not the cheapest surgeons in Mexico, but they're cheaper than the renowned surgeons in Colorado.

This article seems one-sided. From reading this, one may very well conclude that there are no competent plastic surgeons in Mexico, and that the only safe and reliable plastic surgery is to be found in the US. And that of course is incorrect. I understand that traveling to a foreign country for plastic surgery is not for everyone, and that one should exercise extreme caution (just like one should in the US!). But to make blanket statements like that is just not fair.

I am an American from Santa Rosa California. I have lived here in Cabo San Lucas Mexico for 3 yrs working as Dr. Miguelangelo Gonzalez's Assistant. He is a very well known Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. 90% of our patients are from the US and Canada. Dr. Miguelangelo is just as good or better than doctors in the states. He lectures to plastic surgeons around the world on procedures he has created and even has patent his own surgical tools for liposuction. We have a beautiful state-of-the-art surgery center with two surgery rooms, recovery room, and the best patient care. I have personally had plastic surgery in Lake Tahoe California. They are kicking you out, walking you to your car before you have any idea what is going on, I was still asleep. Here at the Miguelangelo Clinic our patients are care for until they are completely awake and can walk out on there own, knowing what is going on around them.

Thanks for the comments! You're right dalifona, you do seem to get what you pay for when it comes to plastic surgery. Great point about the Mexican sopa opera stars also!

Great article! Just think that all the mexican soap opera stars and performers fly either to Venezuela, Brazil or the US to have their plastic surgery done. i think for something that important and high risk you get what you pay for.
