Within this past year I was a bridesmaid in not one but two weddings. Of course we are almost all honored with the idea that we are special enough to stand beside this person on their wedding day, but some people do not really understand the meaning of being a bridesmaid. You both gush over her ring, and then the planning begins. In one wedding I was one of three bridesmaids, and in the other I was the "Maid of Honor."

These two experiences were night and day because I quickly learned what not to do the first time around, so the second one I could truly enjoy the wedding. The following are some quick tips so that you can make it through your bridesmaid experience without ending up ticked off, with bad hair, angry at the entire wedding process.

Bond with Your Fellow Bridesmaids

Several months prior to the barrage of bridal showers, and bachelorette parties make an effort to get to know and be on good terms with the other bridesmaids. Make an offer to meet for coffee or arrange a time when you can all sit down and pitch in making invitations and talk. Getting to know who you are in the wedding party with will make the experience so much more enjoyable in the long run, rather than having those odd hellos the day of rehearsal, and the big day.

Exchange phone numbers and email addresses so that you can all team up and throw a very special bridal shower where every bridesmaid helps rather than just leaving that obligation to the maid of honor.
