When I think of traveling, I think of relaxing under a palm tree and swimming in crystal clear ocean waters. When I talk to others about traveling, they think of different things. My one friend loves to explore castles and ruins and prefers Europe to the Caribbean. I have another friend who loves adventure and prefers to ski down a mountain slope, or have a canopy adventure ride in a Panamanian rainforest. Still someone else I know just loves learning about the various cultures and foods of the places they visit. And others simply love cruising, having been on numerous cruises - sometimes 9 or 10 of them each on different cruise lines.

Traveling is a very individual choice. Choosing the right vacation to suit you is a very personal thing. And only you can decide what you like and the type of vacation to suit you. It would be very beneficial for you and your travel mate to sit down and decide what is important to you on a vacation. Do you like to swim in the ocean, or is a pool-side bar the extent of the swimming you like to do? Do you want to do a lot of shopping for name-brand fashion, or simply pick up a souvenir or two at a local craft shop? Are you into exploring ruins and landmarks, or learning the history and culture of the place you are visiting? How adventurous are you? Do you want to swim with the sharks, do some cliff diving, or scuba dive through underwater caverns? Of course, all of these are considerations you need to take into when planning your vacation. Sometimes you can incorporate all of these things into one vacation by simply taking a cruise which may offer all of the aspects listed above at various ports of call.
