September is back to school time. It is the time of year thoughts turn to fall. Soon the temperatures will start to drop. The leaves will start to change to their autumn colors. Football games are the games of choice, high school, college and pro are all options.

Bringing the fall theme inside our homes to decorate is very popular. Decorating for the seasons is an idea that has been done for many years. The subtle fall colors bring warmth into our lives and homes. With imagination and a bit of decorating sense we can make our homes an autumn refuge.

Your Living Room -

Bring in fall colors with throw pillows and throws. This is an inviting way to bring colors into your living space. As the temperature drops, you will have warm throws on chilly evenings. Splashes of colors with pillows make it an inviting place to relax.

Put up colorful fall swag. These can be purchased at craft and hobby stores. You can also make them yourselves. Making them ensures that they match your home décor. You can use silk flowers or dried flowers. Both will add an element of outdoors inside.

You Dining Room -

Use a fall colored table runner or tablecloth. This step alone can change the appearance of the room. Cloth chair covers in fall patterns and colors are nice touches.

A fall centerpiece for your table is a way to bring in the outdoor element. Choose one that compliments the décor of your room.

Your Kitchen -

The kitchen is usually a room no one thinks of decorating for the seasons. A simple basket of seasonal produce on the counter can bring the effect in.

Fall pictures colored by your children on your refrigerator can bring the autumn feel into your kitchen.

In the kitchen, you can bring in the smell of the season as well. Simmering potpourri on the stove will remind everyone of apple cider and hot chocolate on hayrides.

Your Entrance Way -

The first impression of your home is here. Think about decorating inside and out here. Outside your front door, consider a nice planter full of fall plants. At least consider a plant that blooms in rich colors, such as a basket of red geraniums.
